Retirement crisis eased

The GP retirement timebomb could be defused by the right to give up out-of-hours responsibility.

More than one in five GPs aged over 55 said they were thinking of delaying their retirement because of their ability to stop night and weekend work.

Overall, 17 per cent said quitting out-of-hours may tempt them to stay on longer in practice.
