Save flexible career scheme
From Dr Fiona Cornish, Cambridge
Your coverage of major cuts in the flexible career scheme was timely and pertinent.
The Medical Women's Federation and the GPC have been trying since November last year, without success, to reverse the loss of funding that supported the scheme.
With more than 60 per cent of medical graduates being women, this scheme, developed in 2001, has proven an excellent way of providing opportunities to return to practice after a career break, or to retain those doctors who require flexible working.
It is essential that adequate funding should be restored as soon as possible.
