SHAs urged to talk to GPs

The RCGP has called on SHAs to improve communications with GPs in order to improve on piecemeal local engagement with Lord Darzi's NHS reforms.
Professor Steve Field, chair of the RCGP, which held it's annual conference last week, said the College had put forward a lead GP for each SHA area to act as a focal point in implementing the Health Minister's plans.
He said: ‘We want to urge the SHAs to engage with the College more effectively. In some areas, the communication has been good. In others, it's been not very good at all.
‘We've been asking for more involvement, and we think we can provide solutions to a lot of the problems.'
