Shock at stabbing of female GP

By Christian Duffin

A man was due to appear in court today following the stabbing of a GP at her surgery.

Dr Helen Jackson, 56, was attacked at Hyndland Road Surgery, in Glasgow, during practice hours yesterday morning.

A police spokesperson said officers were called to the surgery to help a woman suffering from injuries to her body. ‘A 62-year-old man was arrested in connection with the alleged assault and was due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today.'

A spokesperson for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: ‘We have been in touch with the surgery to offer our support. We are shocked and concerned about this reported assault on a GP at a Glasgow surgery.'

Dr Jackson was treated at Glasgow's Western Infirmary. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
