'Smacking' GP could have been any of us

I agree wholeheartedly that GPs should 'press for 2003/4 payment' for last year's PGEA (News, July 5). I have been pressing since the end of March and do not know who else to press!

Billericay, Brentwood and Wickford PCT is still awaiting guidance from above while maintaining that payments are included in the global sum.

GPC negotiator Dr Laurence Buckman says 'the rules are clear on the issue' – but they are obviously not clear to our paymasters.

Have any GPs been paid last year's PGEA?

Is Dr Buckman able to put pressure on the Department of Health to authorise these payments?

Would PCTs put money into the global sum pot before they knew if we'd attended any courses last year?

If you haven't received your £2,945 please stand up and shout for it. It's much easier than scrabbling around for another 20 Q&O points as we've already done the work.
