At the heart of general practice since 1960

'Square root' still a conundrum

Dr Raja Dandapat is battling with his council after it allocated only two secure parking spaces to cover five GPs at his health centre.

Dr Dandapat, a GP in west London, said the area was unsafe and GPs could spend half an hour looking for a space after house calls.

'My partner is really scared going to the car, and one of the singlehanded women GPs was severely beaten up some time ago,' he said.

Dr Dandapat added: 'We are serving a population of 10,000 patients but they say we are not a priority.'

Hammersmith council said it had a policy of only giving two places per practice.
