'Stitched up' to reopen our list

Dr Jenny and Dr Chris Langdon say they have been forced to open their list in order to avoid being discriminated against over enhanced services funding.

The husband and wife partnership in Holyport, Berkshire, stopped taking on patients two years ago when its list reached 6,000.

Dr Jenny Langdon said: 'We think we've been stitched up. The new contract is supposed to give us more control but this has put us in a situation where we have no choice.'

She added: 'We managed to get the list down to about 4,700 which was a manageable figure, but now it looks like we'll have to expand or die, which is not the sort of practice we want.

'We've already had a large number of people contact us and we are thinking that perhaps we will have to get a salaried practitioner in.'
