Stop sniping from the sidelines, Phil

Re: Dr Phil Peverley (‘Stop it BMA, just stop it', Columnists, 7 November), this article represents the views of a minority of doctors who are very unhappy, never offer realistic solutions and never offer themselves to represent their like-minded colleagues.

Sniping from the sidelines is a much easier sport than involving yourself in the real world of negotiating with health service managers and the governments of the day.

There is a very small minority of GPs who appear to think that joining with certain politicians and certain sectors of the media in criticising those who represent them is somehow helpful.

Acting with dignity and respect is more likely to help us achieve a service fit for our patients. Dr Peverley and his sympathisers are the ones who should stop it.
