Statin switch better than doubling dose

Researchers at the Royal United Hospital in Bath studied 424 patients admitted with an acute coronary event while taking a statin dose that could be doubled.

Half the patients were given ezetimibe/ simvastatin and the other half had their statin dose doubled.

After three months 86% of those taking the combination had achieved a LDL-C level of less than 2.5 mmol/l compared to 72% taking the double statin dose.
