Surrey - financially challenged

Two-thirds of GPs rated Surrey PCT's managerial support for PBC as fairly or very poor and almost 60% gave the same response on their relationship with the PCT.



The PCT has a history of financial troubles and has to find £32m of savings in 2008/9.

But Dr Ralph Burton, clinical locality lead for South East Surrey, says: ‘Surrey PCT is making good progress maturing PBC in a financially challenged health economy.' He cites ‘the letting of two contracts for integrated care organisations as pilot schemes for the way PBC might deliver in the future'.

He adds: ‘While we know we have a way to go, we are heading in the right direction.'
