Suspended GPs cleared

Two GPs suspended from their PCT professional executive committee after they opposed its plans for health services have been cleared of any wrongdoing.

Dr Roger Ford and Dr Les Glass were accused by Sunderland Teaching PCT of failing to maintain corporate responsibility and suspended from the committee in July last year.

But the trust last week withdrew all allegations and gave an undisclosed sum in compensation.

The GPs said they would use the money to make a significant donation to local charities. They said: 'This has been a long and distressing time. We're pleased it's finally over.'
