Switching GP proposal is a recipe for disaster

I'm writing regarding your article reporting that PCTs are pushing for frequent switching of GP - just like switching between gas suppliers.

This is a recipe for disaster. The patients who will swap are likely to be those who do not get what they want from their GP.

How can a service that is free at the point of use survive if clinicians cannot make decisions with patients based on clinical necessity rather than want? The whole point of good primary care is a continued therapeutic relationship with a patient.

Besides, last time I switched gas supplier it took me six months and ended up costing me more.
