Take legal action on GMC panel

It was indeed shocking to read of the GMC handling of the complaint against Dr Michael Silver (May 26). This raises the question: why are doctors in the UK prepared to take this sort of thing lying down?

In the US if this had happened, both the chair of the GMC panel that delivered the erroneous verdict and the patient would have been sued for millions of dollars for harassment.

I urge Dr Silver to institute a civil claims suit against the chair of the panel that delivered the original GMC judgment and also the patient for defamation and compensation for causing him and his family severe distress.

Also, the chair should have a complaint of severe professional misconduct lodged against him.
