The backlash against the backlash has begun

Dammit. The backlash to the backlash against homeopathy and other dumb-assed alternative treatments has begun.

Dammit. The backlash to the backlash against homeopathy and other dumb-assed alternative treatments has begun.

First, I read that the MHRA taken the unprecedented step of granting a licence to a homeopathic medicine. This appears to suggest that arnica ‘pillules' – for the relief, presumably of sprainules – has got the official stamp of approval.

Which is odd, because, to quote the MHRA website, the MHRA, ‘Is the government agency which is responsible for ensuring that medicines and medical devices work'.

In which case, I'd suggest that the MHRA is, itself, currently working about as well as the average homeopathic treatment..

And I'd just about peeled myself off the ceiling having read that story when I came across a headline telling me practices offering complementary therapies can now have a kitemark to distinguish themselves – presumably as fluffy headed, cardie-clad tossers.

Excellent. After all, this information will be made available to the public via NHS Choices. And hopefully that means these practices will get the patients they deserve.
