The award for the most overzealous approach to news management goes to NHS West Kent, which rang up Pulse in self-righteous fury to demand where we had got ‘inaccurate' data about the trust's IVF funding… only to discover it had come from a Freedom of Information Act response from, erm, NHS West Kent.
In fairness, NHS West Kent had every right to be angry at NHS West Kent… its detailed FOI response, compiled to a deadline of 20 working days, had wrongly identified itself as the joint lowest funder of IVF in the country. In fact, it spent £1.4m on the treatment in 2009/10.
