There's no gloating at this PCT

Regarding the article about NHS managers gloating over the new contract (News, March 1), I would be devastated if anyone behaved like this in Mid Sussex PCT.

We have not quite finalised the enhanced services work but hope to do so very soon. We are very short of funding, but all attempts are being made by us to ensure our doctors and patients are not disadvantaged.

This needs to be a facilitative process where each of the parties understands the pressures on the other – it is not a battle or a fight! Mature relationships can cope with things going wrong sometimes, which they inevitably will. I have not once in Pulse recently seen anything positive about the relationships that exist between GPs and PCTs. I for one will be working very hard to enable our GPs to achieve their Q&O aspirations, to sort out their budgets and to work with them and others on the enhanced services.
