'Torture a bigger issue than TB tests'

Dr Peter Lefeuvre is calling for funding to cope with asylum seekers' psychological problems.

Dr Lefeuvre, a GP in Margate, Kent, works on a Home Office scheme to provide medical services to asylum seekers. It has focused on TB screening, but has so far failed to pick up a single case in 5,000 patients.

Dr Lefeuvre said: 'The bread and butter of my work is people who have been tortured, raped and shot.'
