Trusts to buy in skills to support PBC

A PBC development framework has been established that will enable PCTs to rapidly buy in high-quality support to improve their PBC capability and skills.

A PBC development framework has been established that will enable PCTs to rapidly buy in high-quality support to improve their PBC capability and skills.

But although the DH has funded the setting up of the framework, individual PCTs, SHAs and PBC groups will have to foot the bill for any services they seek from the five organisations listed in the framework.

The organisations are:

• Aetna Health Services (UK) in partnership with the RCGP and PricewaterhouseCoopers
• Catch On Group
• Centre for Innovation in Health Management at Leeds University Business School
• Humana Europe in partnership with NHS Alliance and Dr Foster Intelligence
• Tribal Group in partnership with Quest4Quality.

The framework should let PCTs appoint a provider within a month as their technical skills and PBC experience have been scrutinised by the DH already.

In a statement, the NHS Alliance said: ‘Local areas will be able to get support from skilled organisations, which will help make PBC more effective across the country. The DH is rightly reinvigorating PBC and this is a step in the right direction.'
