Try this on your patients with oesophagitis plus stricture

As Dr David Turner points out (Letters, June 28) laws should not be passed on inconclusive evidence. The next time I jump out of an aeroplane I shall omit a parachute as it has not been rigorously tested. I shall ignore common sense.

As for the teenagers who will look 'uncool' wearing cycle helmets, perhaps they should be encouraged to start smoking to offset this?
