Just last month he derided the NHS for having ‘lost the plot' on primary care, and at the National Association of Primary Care conference he regaled the audience with the views of a GP who wanted to retain practice boundaries and keep his choice of patients, and summed up thus: ‘Complete bollocks.'

Where did you learn that language, professor? Not in the Department of Health, we hope.
