Violent patients' GPs go mobile

Dr John Jenkins and Dr Miland Tadpatrakar will work in the first mobile surgery for treating violent patients, which was unveiled last week. The specially-adapted van will cover eight PCTs in Nottinghamshire.

Patients removed from a GP's list for violent behaviour can arrange an appointment with the van at fixed locations.

Also on-board will be a driver and a security guard. Dr Jenkins and Dr Tadpatrakar will provide cover as an enhanced service.

'Our aim is to get these people back into the mainstream health care system,' said Dr Jenkins, a GP in Ashfield who also works as a police surgeon.
