Vote No and let's get our good old NHS back

GPC negotiator Dr Laurence Buckman says 'a No vote for the contract will mean a complete rethink of where we are in the NHS' (March 10). Good! It's about time we got rid of targets and managers, when the total number of the latter exceeds the number of NHS hospital beds. Does anyone believe that the reforms under this Government have improved patient care? Even under fundholding there was a big void between the 'haves' and 'have-nots', and now everyone is going without. And how about morale among the real workforce the clinical staff?

A rethink is needed. I suggest we vote No to try to recreate an NHS that provides good-quality health care as judged by patients and clinical staff, not the Department of Health.
