Wait to drop out-of-hours annoys GP

Dr Beryl Duncan is disappointed she may have to wait until December 2004 to give up out-of-hours.

But she praised negotiators for ensuring GPs would only lose an average of £6,000 a year by opting out.

Dr Duncan, a GP in Terrington St Clement, Norfolk, who does her own out-of-hours work, said: 'There was talk of it costing a lot more to opt out ­ £6,000 is not a vast amount of money to give up.'
