We are much more in touch than politicians

As GPs in a neighbouring practice to Dr Colin-Thome's in Runcorn, we are surprised he believes 'politicians are more in touch with what people want than clinicians' (News, May 3).

Last year 70 per cent of our 9,500 patients consulted at least once; the same figure is widely quoted for patient contacts nationally.

By contrast, we wonder what proportion of an MP's constituents see their MP each year?
