We need to embrace email consultations
Another channel of communication opens up and, with some safeguards, it could be made to work.
GPs have already registered a huge increase in telephone consultations that has eased demand significantly. Email has the potential to further take the pressure off demand, which will otherwise continue to increase.
So if GPs take email on board, as they have done with telephone consultations, will the Department of Health start to include telephone and email access in their surveys, which currently only look at the availability of face-to-face consultations?
