A-level success list locally. St Mary's for girls comes a close second. Both are selective.

Leisure? Salisbury boasts

arguably the finest medieval

cathedral in the country. It was famously painted by Constable.

There is much medieval about the town, counteracted by the usual complement of modern leisure

centres and out-of-town attractions
