We're scared of VAT man

Registering for VAT in time for April would be a 'major headache', says Dr Eugene Hughes.

Dr Hughes said his seven-partner practice in Ryde, Isle of Wight, would be well above the £60,000 VAT threshold.

He said: 'As we've had no experience of dealing with VAT it's an unrealistic timescale. If we have to do it by April it's going to be a real rush. Everyone is scared of the VAT man.'

A year's breathing space would 'help immensely', Dr Hughes added.
