Why do superannuation statements vary so wildly?

I am having great trouble understanding the new superannuation statements. The profits for my practice are split equally between us with no retentions, but each of our balancing payments are really different. Most are roughly the same within a thousand pounds but two are much lower. I think one is likely to be due to capping but I don¹t understand why the other one is so low.
