NICE seeks feedback on new QOF indicators

By Lilian Anekwe

NICE has asked GPs to comment on six proposed new indicators for the 2011/12 quality and outcomes framework.

The indicators, in mental health, asthma, cardiovascular disease, dementia, diabetes and palliative care, were agreed in June and have been piloted in 30 practices.

GPs and other stakeholders can now comment on the indicators, ‘identifying any challenges to implementation, possible unintended consequences and impact on health inequalities.'

Stakeholders are asked to submit comments based on the following set of questions:

  • Do you think there are any barriers to the implementation of one or more of these indicators?
  • Do you think there are potential unintended consequences to the implementation of one or more of these indicators?
  • Do you think that any of the indicators may impact unevenly on different groups in the community (in respect of gender, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, religion, age or socio-economic group)?

The consultation closes on Sunday 11 April.
