New entry

As newly appointed chair of the Independent Advisory Group for the General Practice Extraction Service, Dr Joanne Bailey says her task will be a balance between ‘maintaining the confidence of the doctor-patient relationship while considering the public interest in the use of personal information’. And amid heated debate over the use of care.data, the position will certainly be prominent.

She will carry out the role in addition to her work as a locum GP in London, regional GPC representative and member of the RCGP health informatics group.

Her advice to GPs facing ‘considerable strain’ due to the cumulative effects of Government policies – ‘Put on your own oxygen mask before helping others’.
