Professor David Haslam is a GP in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, and a former chair of the RCGP who still plays an active role in the college and features as a keynote speaker at its annual conference.

Professor David Haslam is a GP in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, and a former chair of the RCGP who still plays an active role in the college and features as a keynote speaker at its annual conference.

He is a popular figure, but he will spend much of the next year steering an unpopular policy as clinical adviser to the Care Quality Commission as it implements practice registration.

He is also chair of the NHS Evidence advisory committee, and as such is responsible for making sure rigorous, evidence-based medicine is applied and practised within the NHS.
