29 – Dr Helena McKeown

Dr Helena McKeown is a heart-on-the-sleeve GP leader who has been in the thick of recent debates over the stance the BMA should take on the Government's NHS reforms.

A GP in Salisbury and member of the GPC and BMA Council, she was one of the first prominent GPs to be won round by grassroots calls for the Special Representative Meeting.

She voted for outright opposition to the reforms, despite her enthusiasm for GP commissioning, having been swung by the heat of GP opinion on the ground.
