Dr Tom Black, chair of Northern Ireland GPC, has said signing up all practices in the country to become federations is the only way traditional general practice will survive.
The Derry GP has managed a rare feat in putting together a plan and getting it in place across Northern Ireland in a six-month window.
Under GPC plans the 20 not-for profit federations will work to ‘push-back’ unfunded dumping of work from secondary care as well as supporting practices currently struggling to provide care. The rest of the UK will be looking on with keen interest.
