Londonwide LMCs launch ‘GP Resilience’ campaign

A campaign to help GPs withstand the rising workload pressure and educate patients about the crisis facing general practice has been launched today by Londonwide LMCs.

The GP Resilience – Take Control campaign will include a website with resources for practices on managing their growing administrative burden and financial and workforce pressures, and resources for patients outlining where these pressures and NHS red tape might undermine GPs’ ability to help.

The campaign will also use social media to publicise the problems facing general practice and there will be a ‘Survive to thrive’ conference, due to take place in London on 5 February, and is open to all GPs and practice managers.

Londonwide LMCs CEO Dr Michelle Drage said: It is time to rebuild confidence and resilience so that GPs in London can secure a future for general practice to do the job we are trained to do, provide care for the patient in front of us.

‘In this real world of a politically controlled NHS and extreme Government financial squeezes, nobody else is going to help us secure the future of our practices. We have to take control ourselves.’
