49. Dr Robert Morley

Jujitsu black belt Dr Robert Morley has been busy as both Birmingham LMC secretary and a member of the BMA’s GP Committee.

As GPC policy lead for contracts and regulation, Dr Morley’s achievements have included securing funding for practices to which they are legally entitled, such as GP sick and parental leave cover, which he said local commissioners have been denying practices through various misinterpretations of the SFE.

As a key part of his work with Birmingham LMC, Dr Morley has been supporting practices in issues such as workload dump, underfunding and problems with the Capita PCSE service.

He has also spent time working with his local CCG to aid vulnerable practices that are struggling due to premises cost issues, practice viability and CQC actions.

He is most proud of the rapid growth and development of his practice liaison and practice manager peer support scheme, as well as the positive feedback it has received.
