20. Dr Ishani Patel
Last year, Pulse marked out Dr Ishani Patel as one to watch, placing her top of our list of rising stars in the GP profession.
This year, the co-founder of Lantum - a desktop tool and iPhone app that helps healthcare organisations fill locum shifts – has taken the company’s achievements to the next level by working with hundreds of groups of GPs struggling with the workforce crisis.
Lantum is now working with its first integrated care system – Our Dorset, a partnership between NHS services and local councils – as well as 70 GP federations and many more primary care networks.
The result has been to provide GPs with ‘a transparent real-time overview of the full workforce, improved collaboration across organisations and reduced agency spend,’ she says.
Efficient use of staff during the current shortage of GPs is key but can be difficult to master solo. This London GP is offering a much needed helping hand.
All of this aside, Dr Patel serves as the eHub GP lead at HarnessCare, a federation with a focus on eight CCGs in north London; is studying for an executive MBA at Warwick Business School, and guides others as part of the RCGP’s Innovation Mentorship Programme.
