Dr Emma Ladds

Dr Ladds combines day-to-day practice with top-level research. She has been involved in a project to evaluate a Compassionate Communities scheme, which explores approaches to chronic disease management and end-of-life care.

Having been awarded a £5,000 grant, Dr Ladds is also researching individualised social interventions and the development of a referral database for social prescribing.

She is also conducting research for the University of Oxford’s Health and Care Foresight Programme, which is addressing long-term health and social care challenges. Alongside this, she has a faculty position at Oxford’s Saïd Business School’s Leadership and Management in Healthcare course and teaches fifth-year medical students in the primary care specialty at Oxford.

Dr Ladds works as a GP trainee at Summertown Group Practice in Oxford. She draws on expertise from her Harvard-gained public health master’s degree to ensure all patients receive the best care. She took responsibility for a cohort of complex patients and developed holistic care plans with them to promote improved health and wellbeing.

As if all that wasn’t enough, she somehow regularly manages to bake morale-boosting cakes – offered up during practice meetings – and has introduced a garden of summer fruits and vegetables for staff to enjoy.
