At the heart of general practice since 1960

Dr Morgan has been working hard to promote general practice in Wales. Over the past year, the Bridgend GP has been instrumental in running a video competition to showcase the country as a ‘great place to live and work as a GP’.

He organised a GP taster workshop aimed at Year 12 school students – something he says has never been done before. Around 48 pupils attended the event, where they were able to visit 10 interactive stations that allowed them  to experience a range of aspects of general practice.

The RCGP Wales executive officer hopes to extend this in the coming year by producing a webinar and going into 50 schools to promote general practice as a career choice, as well as develop work that can be included in the Welsh baccalaureate. He is also planning to launch another competition to promote Wales – but this time just for schools and colleges.

What others say about him ‘Runs an event to support access to medical school for students from deprived backgrounds.’
