50. Dr Harpreet Sood

We have the most pro-technology health secretary ever, and in such an environment, Dr Sood is someone whose influence will continue to grow.

He has had his fingers in many of the digital pies. He has worked on the Topol review, which looked at the impact of technology on the roles of clinical staff and the implications of these changes on the skills required by professionals. Dr Sood also contributed to the publication of the code of conduct for data-driven health and care technology – specifically on how performance will be validated and measured for algorithms being developed. And he has been working on the clinical aspects of the NHS People Plan – its strategy for the future of the workforce.

As a clinical tech leader himself, he is helping to produce the next generation as co-founder of the NHS Digital Academy, a virtual organisation set up by NHS England to develop ‘a new generation of excellent digital leaders who can drive the information and technology transformation of the NHS’.

He is doing all this while still a trainee – he practises as an ST3 in Regent’s Park, London.
