Pulse columnist Dr Phil Peverley wins top award

Pulse columnist Dr Phil Peverley has been crowned Columnist of the Year at the Professional Publishers Association (PPA) awards.

Dr Peverley, a GP in Sunderland, was hailed by the judges for producing 'a wonderfully entertaining read that will register absolutely with the readers.'

The judges added: 'He has humour, reality and real understanding which makes readers turn straight to this columnist in every issue.'

The winners of this year's awards were announced on Wednesday 20 June at the Grosvener House Hotel in London.

Pulse was shortlisted for a total of six PPA awards this year. Pulsetoday.co.uk and Pulse-Learning.co.uk were both nominated for Digital Product of the Year (Business Media), Pulse was nominated for Business Media Brand of the Year and Business Magazine of the Year, while former editor Richard Hoey was nominated for Editor of the Year (Business Media).

Emma Penny, editor of Pulse's sister title at Briefing Media, Farmers Guardian, was also successful on Wednesday, winning Editor of the Year (Business Media).
