David Austin, the cartoonist behind Pulse's Practice Watch, has died aged 70.

David was a new recruit to Pulse, starting Practice Watch in October, but a regular

contributor for the Guardian

for the past 16 years and for

publications as varied as New

Scientist, the Spectator and Private Eye.

David had been suffering from cancer of the stomach.
