28. Dr Amanda Doyle

Dr Amanda Doyle comes in at number 28 in the 2013 Pulse Power 50. He is a new entry in the list.

Dr Amanda Doyle was described by our panel as a ‘rising star’ in her role as co-chair of the NHS Clinical Commissioners leadership group and chair of Blackpool CCG.

Her achievements this year have included co-ordinating the north-west CCGs’ response to NHS Direct’s withdrawal fom the NHS 111 service and articulating concern regarding uncertainty over CCG budgets.

She has also been vocal in her support of integrated services, which looks set to dominate CCG agendas in the coming year. She says: ’ I think we have a huge challenge particularly in primary care in dealing with ever increasing demand.

‘I think we need to give people the space to develop and transform services, particularly to integrate primary, community and social care services, but practices are under such pressure that it’s difficult to raise your nose from the grindstone enough to actually make the change.’

That is something that many grassroots GPs would agree with.
