43. Professor Julia Hippisley-Cox

Professor Hippisley-Cox comes in at number 43 in the 2013 Pulse Power 50. She is a new entry from last year.

One of the foremost academic GPs in the UK, Professor Julia Hippisley- Cox has made a name for herself by developing
a family of risk scores to help GPs target treatment interventions.

After the success of the QRISK cardiovascular score – now included in guidelines – Professor Hippisley-Cox has also developed the QKidney, QCancer and QFracture scores. She is also involved in developing a lifetime cardiovascular risk score with the Joint British Societies.

Her www.openpseudonymiser.org is used as standard now by the two largest GP suppliers

She says her best moments are realising that some research she has done is ‘being used for doctors and patients’ and that an ‘endless curiosity and over developed sense of justice’ keep her going.
