At the heart of general practice since 1960

We should back our negotiators

Dr Laurence Buckman has expressed the views of the majority of GPs in a very clear, level-headed way, and he and his GPC colleagues will need all their wits about them as they start to enter true negotiations with the Government.

They will also need our support, so long as they are honest with us, and we can understand the difficult process they are going to have to follow in the coming months.

Some good may come from all of this but the Government must be realistic about the practical nature of the process and not try to dictate just because it is in power.

It and the previous government are responsible for a lot of nonsense, and ministers need to take stock of previous mistakes and be a bit more humble. I wish our negotiators all the best for the deliberations ahead.
