I'm writing to clarify a couple of points in one of your articles.
GP trainees left twiddling their thumbs by three-month wait for CRB checks
The vetting and barring scheme (VBS) was not the cause of delays in registrars receiving Criminal Records Bureau checks as registration under this scheme, which was due to start in July, was halted in June to allow the Government to review it. The CRB currently processes more than 87% of enhanced disclosures within 28 days. As part of our review of the criminal records regime, we will be examining whether administration of criminal records can be made more straightforward and efficient.
