This information is sourced from Public Health England (PHE):

  • GPs have a statutory duty to notify their local council or local health protection team (HPT) of suspected cases of certain infectious diseases
  • On 5 March Covid 19 was added to the list of notifiable diseases
  • Complete a notification form immediately on diagnosis of a suspected case of Covid-19
  • Don’t wait for laboratory confirmation before notification
  • Send the form to the proper officer within 3 days, or notify them verbally within 24 hours
  • If you need help, contact your local HPT using the postcode lookup
