GPs in Scotland are offering children aged two to five years the flu vaccine this autumn, as the Scottish Government launches a drive to get all children up to 11 vaccinated.
This year’s flu immunisation campaign is being extended to all healthy infants and primary school children in Scotland, after last year’s campaign in two and three year-olds and selected primary schools saw around 13,000 children vaccinated.
NHS Health Scotland said it expects most children to be immunised by the end of this month, with schools vaccinating all children aged five to 11 years.
The move comes as GPs in England and Wales have been tasked with getting two, three and four-year-olds vaccinated, alongside vaccination in schools of year seven children in Wales, and further schools pilots in England for both primary school age and year seven and eight children.
