Any Willing Provider

The Any Willing Provider model of healthcare aims to allow a range of providers to be accredited - with an emphasis on clinical accreditation to standards set by the Care Quality Commission www.cqc.org.uk - without conducting formal tender processes. The aim is to improve patient choice. Once a provider meets the accreditation criteria it is placed on an AWP list so that patients can select who provides their care from those willing to offer it.  This can be done through Choose and Book www.chooseandbook.nhs.uk. An AWP process conducted by GP commissioners may result in many contracts being awarded, although there is no guarantee of work for the provider.
