Local strategic partnership

Practical Commissioning's Jargon Buster explains the meaning of the term 'Local strategic partnership'.

Each local authority will have a local strategic partnership (LSP) in place to ensure the LAA is turned into action. The membership and to-do list will vary from place to place depending on the local issues that need tackling. The membership could include community and faith groups, the council, police, fire and rescue services, charity groups, businesses, schools, health bodies and others.

Most LSPs have a strategic board of key decision-makers and then several joint operational delivery boards that oversee service development and delivery for the individual priorities for that area. Why not put your PBC group forward for a position on an LSP board?

In some areas, PBC consortiums are already involved in strategic decision-making on funding streams and so have their say on what money should be spent to best achieve the desired outcome.
