GP leaders and grassroots GPs to chart 24 hours in general practice

GPC, LMC and RCGP leads will join a host of grassroots GPs in commemorating the anniversary of the NHS reforms with a snapshot of their working day, which will be revealed on Pulsetoday.co.uk on 1 April.

GPs across the UK will be tweeting, blogging and filming throughout the day to create a picture of what a day in general practice entails, from script-writing to out-of-hours care and house calls to saving lives.

Pulse held a similar event in 2010 for its 50th anniversary, which saw 27 entries from 17 GPs and practice staff.

This year, with interest from famous names – including former RCGP chairs Professor Clare Gerada and Professor Mayur Lakhani – alongside practices across the UK, 24 hours in general practice will be on an even larger scale.

Pulse editor Steve Nowottny says: ‘We want to do it much bigger, and better, and really show the world what British general practice is like in 2014 – warts and all’.

‘Whatever kind of GP you are, wherever you work and whatever you’re doing on the day, we want to hear from you.’
